WHAT TO DO AFTER A WATER LEAK REPAIR & A FLUSH:
Whenever there is a water leak on our side, Wooster Water repairs the leak. Some leaks are worse than others; in that, they may be bigger or in a harder place to repair, rough terrain, and so on. Therefore, some leaks may take longer to repair than others. For the most part, most of the repairs are under four (4) hours, but some may be more extensive. A “Flush” is what we do after a water leak repair. A Flush is also done whenever needed. Flushing is when we turn the fire hydrants on, in the affected area(s), to flush out any dirt or sediment to prevent it from occurring in any homes or businesses. Ordinarily, a flush will take a couple of hours, sometimes 3-4 hours, maybe even longer if it is needed. For the most part, it would depend upon the difficulty of extent of the repair.
After the water is turned back on and we are flushing, you will not have your full water pressure yet. Once the flush is over and your pressure is back, you, most likely, will have air in your water lines. Some folks may have more than others. If your water looks whitish, cloudy, milky, bubbly… this is air in your line. To relieve the air in your line, turn a faucet on, we recommend your kitchen faucet. Turn the water about half way on and run the water for five (5) minutes. This will, usually, get the air out of your lines. But, should you still have quite a bit of air, you may have to run it for 10 minutes. If you have tried this method and the air does not seem to leave, please call Wooster Water at 501-679-2048.
Remember, if you should ever see fresh water bubbling out of the ground of you see a concern like that, please call Wooster Water immediately and we will get our excellent and licensed Water Operators out there to inspect. Online work orders are always generated for any such work and are kept for reference, if ever needed.
