WATER RATE INCREASE
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2026:
ANRC Act 605 of 2021 requires all Arkansas water systems to complete a formal Rate Study, with ours being by June 30, 2026. This study evaluates whether current rates are sufficient to maintain financial stability, meet regulatory standards, & support long-term system needs.
Audit & regulatory costs have increased significantly, requiring an adjustment to the base rate. The Base Rate, which includes the first 1,000 gallons of water, will increase by $2.00, along with a $1.00 non-taxable Surcharge to cover mandated compliance expenses.
Our wholesale water provider, Community Water System in Greers Ferry, is undergoing major plant upgrades due to regional growth. To fund these improvements, Community Water has issued water bonds, resulting in higher wholesale water costs for all member utilities. As a result, Wooster Water System must increase the rate for usage on the second 1,000 gallons and above by .51 cents/1,000 gallons of water.
To summarize: Inside City Limits = $33.02 New Base Rate (first 1,000 gallons of water); $8.77 per 1,000 gallons on 2nd thousand gallons & up
Outside City Limits = $35.02 New Base Rate (first 1,000 gallons of water); $9.29 per 1,000 gallons on 2nd thousand gallons & up
