ANNUAL MEMORIAL CEREMONY – WOOSTER CITY PARK!
It’s that time again! Wooster’s Annual Memorial Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 (Armed Forces Day) at Wooster City Park. Please come out and join us for this beautiful Memorial Ceremony in memory and honor for all of those who have served in every branch of our military!
This year’s ceremony is from 10:00am – 2:00 pm. We will be providing lunch this year. We have not been able to have “lunch on the grounds” since COVID-19, but finally, we are able to, once again!
This year we welcome the Arkansas Youth Challenge Cadets and Cadre who will be presenting our U.S. Flag, the 3 Shot Volley, the Playing of “Taps”, and the Retirement of Colors! This year we will also have another special guest…U.S. Army Retired Colonel Conrad Reynolds, founder of Arkansas Military Veterans’ Hall of Fame! He will be leading the POW / MIA Pledge. (Colonel Reynolds is also running for Congress this year!)
There will be a “Quilt Draw” again this year. A quilt that was designed and specially made by Greenbrier Quilting with Friends will be the prize for a drawing. All Veterans in attendance will be eligible for the draw. Our very own, Faulkner County Judge, Jim Baker, will be presenting the winner with “The Quilt”.
Judge Baker is a 5th generation Cattleman and was inducted in the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame! He was also named “Man of the Year” by Progressive Farmers magazine and had a front-row seat on Capitol Hill during former President Clinton’s reign! Judge Baker will be placing the Memorial Wreath, again, this year.
Our very own District 12 Justice of the Peace, Gerald Boyer will invocate for us again! District 2 Justice of the Peace, Randy Higgins will lead the Pledge to our Arkansas Flag!
We warmly welcome Pastor Jeff Brown of Goodloe Community Church who will be leading the Prayer for All Military and the blessing of our food.
We are so excited to hear the Conway Women’s Chorus group perform. The Conway Women’s Chorus is directed by Loren Rust.
The City of Wooster is so appreciative of everyone participating. We would like to thank everyone participating and everyone involved including our sponsors, Greenbrier Quilting with Friends, Wooster Roadrunner’s EHC, Tipton Hurst Florist in Conway, and Farm 2 Table.
The City of Wooster would, especially, like to thank Emily Harris & Sheila Johnson, both courageous Humanitarian Volunteers, for their dedication and hard work in planning, preparing, fundraising, supplying, coordinating, follow-through, among all the other things that is takes to have such a public event. We would not be able to have this annual event without these ladies!
All of our hearts and prayers go out to all of our military… those who have served and those that are still serving! Thank you Airforce, Army, Army National Guard, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, & Space Force for the fight and protection for our country, for our nation, for us, for our freedom!
VETERANS, FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS…PLEASE JOIN US FOR THIS SPECIAL EVENT!
